the Blogger’s Blah blah blah

Go ahead…“Google it!”  You’ll see there just aren’t many 7-Time Emmy Award winners and authors wrapped up into one.  Unique multi-talented creative professionals like Thomas Baldrick are rare.  Equally rare is this man’s passion for using his skills in a variety of ways to make a positive difference.

Before earning his degree from Temple University, Thomas landed a major market gig with the CBS-owned WCAU-TV in Philadelphia and blossomed there for 8 years. Some 25 years, 2400 miles, and a switch to NBC later, he still is requested to deliver special projects for the station.

On the road in the 90’s, Baldrick was staff reporter/producer for the syndicated shows, “Billy Packer’s College Basketball” and “Hale Irwin’s Golf in America.”  He helped create the “new look” of TLC’s, “A Wedding Story,” which soon became the network’s # 1 series.  Also for shows such as “ET,” “Access Hollywood,” and “Extra,” Thomas did interviews and behind the scenes pieces with the rich and famous from music, TV, and movies.  At home, he was a TV host of the city’s most watched tradition, the Philadelphia Mummers New Year’s Day Parade.

For the first five years of the 21st Century, Thomas enjoyed much success at ABC News in wide-ranging work for “World News Tonight,”  “Good Morning America,” “20/20,” and “This Week.” Among his credits, Baldrick got the first interview with an American POW upon their return from the Iraq war.  Peers voted him to be the only TV reporter, live on the scene for the miracle rescue of the nine-trapped Pennsylvania coal miners.  Thomas also worked in the middle of the Florida Recount in the legendary 2000 U.S. Presidential election.

In the private sector, Thomas enjoyed relationships at giants like Comcast, Exelon, and Chevron.  He has specialized in creating heartwarming success stories throughout the pharmaceutical industry, and served proudly as a consultant for Senior Management at Sovereign Bank.

As an author, he earned the media label of “A Champion for Children” with his two inspirational books,  KIDS RULE! The Hopes and Dreams of 21st Century Children,” and “A Million & One Ways to Celebrate a Child.”  Also, through empowering speeches, guest appearances on TV and radio shows, workshops, and philanthropic efforts, Thomas Baldrick has made a remarkable impact on the lives of children and adults across America.

He has eagerly worked in support of many non-profits, including UNCF, American Cancer Society, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Rev. Leon Sullivan’s OIC, and he’s also acted as Philly’s TV Host of “The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.”  Speaking of marathons, Thomas twice joined Penn State students at “THON,” standing and signing books for 48-hours straight to benefit children with cancer.  Yes.  48 straight hours!  No Sitting!  No Sleeping!  No Kidding!

Nothing challenged Baldrick as deeply as 9-11, tragedies he knows from both New York City and Shanksville, PA.  His tribute, “The 9-11 Wall of Hope” – a 50-foot showcase for the words and drawings of children has been invited to be part of the Flight 93 National Memorial.

In late 2005, Thomas Baldrick made full-time his love of Arizona’s, “Valley of the Sun.” Combining his love of home with his love of work, still pales in comparison to the love he feels for his “little man,” and best buddy in the whole wide world, Julian.
